Breathe
Breathe
I am alive.
Breathing is something we do without thinking... Perhaps beginning to understand how our breath changes can help us become more conscious of its power. When we are in a stressful, angry, frustrated, anxious state, our breath becomes shallow, it speeds up. This is a physical response to our body believing there is some threat we need to be prepared to flee or fight. Often those threats are emotional or mental and not physical, so our breath becoming shallow and fast isnβt going to help soothe us the way we need. When we are able to slow our breathing down and take controlled, full and deep breaths, we are able to calm our systems down, we are able to become more present in the moment, and ultimately self soothe. β adapted from Leigh LaBrake's contributing chapter to the P2U eBook
